Going down the Calle Obispo towards the Avenida del Puerto, on one of the corners in the main shopping area, this fine building surprises passers-by with its refined design. Remembered by many Havana citizens, the old Europa Café was renowned as the best sweets shop in town in the 19th century. Today, it is a restaurant taking the same name. With a history steeped in the art of fine dining and the inspiration of poems such as In the Café Europa, by the poet and Hispanic historian Thomas Walsh, the Europa has attained notoriety from his though-provoking ambience and exotic dishes.
